Independence Day was celebrated at our centre. The function started with a patriotic song by Soundarya Rathnamala Isai Kuzhu and Mr.B.Ramalingam ,Principal Judge,Family Court,Chennai High Court hoisted the National Flag and addressed the gathering and appreciated the services rendered by SYMA
Free Eye Camp SYMA organized a free cataract detection camp in association with Sankara Eye Hospital,Pammal, and Lions club of Chennai Venus. Around 190 people were screened and for 26 persons cataract surgery was performed at Sankara Eye Hospital on 17th Aug. Around 28 persons were provided free glasses by SYMA on 25th Aug from Late K.E.Raghavan memorial fund. Lions Club Of Chennai Venus borne the camp expenses. Earlier Camp was inaugurated by Mr.B.Ramalingam Principal Judge, Family Court,Chennai High Court. Conducted “Educational Aid Function” NKT National Girls Higher Secondary School, Dr Besant Road, Chennai -5. The Chief Guests were Dr V Irai Anbu IAS, Secy., Tourism & Culture Dept., Govt of Tamilnadu and Shri R Nataraj IPA, DGP, Fire & Rescue Services, Chennai. Around 1200 sets uniforms were distributed to school students belonging to economically weaker sections. The school toppers of schools in Triplicane were honoured. The students of SYMA Growth who had passed out meritoriously securing high marks were also honoured which is sponsered by Mrs. Bharathi Baskar. We also distributed financial aid to 20 college students. Mr Durairaj Venkatesh, a young entrepreneur who has donated blood over 110 times was presented “SYMA Sewa Award” by Dr V Irai Anbu. Thiru R Nataraj distributed uniforms and honoured the school toppers in memory of Mrs. Rajalakshmi Padmanaban. Mr TA Sampathkumar, President welcomed the gathering and made presidential address. Mr SR Ragunathan, Secy. proposed the Vote of Thanks. The programme was compered by Mr S Sampathkumar, Editor of BLISS, the newsletter of SYMA.

First day of "GROWTH" commenced with 125 students as scheduled atN K T National Boys Higher Secondary School, Triplicane. Classes will be conducted every Thursday to Sunday evening 17.30 hrs to 19-30 hrs.

National Boys High School) hoisted the national flag. Smt. Leela Sekar (secretary –N. K. T. National Boys High School) later addressed the gathering and appreciated the services rendered by SYMA.

N K T NationalBoys Higher Secondary School, Triplicane. Classes will be conducted every friday to sunday evening 16.00 hrs to 18-00 hrs.

Educational Aid: The Educational aid programme held on 6th July at NKT
National Gilrls higher secondary school,Triplicane. Around 1200 uniforms were distributed on that day.18 school toppers of Triplicane schools were honoured and financial aid distributed to 25 students. MR.R.Sekar,IPS commissioner of police,Greater Chennai participated as chief guest.
SYMA SEVA AWARD was presented to Mr.Lakshmi narasimhan.
The Chief Guest also inaugurated 'Growth' Tution center for 120 poor students of Xth and X11 Std.

Clinical Lab: Kanchi Sankara foundation has started a full fledged clinical Laboratory at SYMA Medical Centre from 9th July onwards. The Lab is named after Late Sri P.V.Rama Iyengar and Smt .Suganthavalli- whose family members have donated funds and medical equipments for conduct of the Lab. Mangal Tirth Estate Ltd also contributed for the Lab. Very nominal fees for the tests are charged and only 50% of these fees are charged to the medical centre patients.

Educational Aid Programme: SYMA organized uniform distribution function on 8th July. Around 1400 sets of uniforms were distributed to poor students,mostly from Corporation schools. The Association honoured Sri. M. Muniraj Pandith, with “SYMA Seva Award” a personality development expert for his contribution towards society. The Award was presented by His Highness Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali Azim Jha prince of Arcot. He also distributed uniforms to poor students. Sri. Rajesh Lakhoni, Commissioner, Corporation of Chennai inaugurated Sri P.V.Rama Iyengar and Smt.Suganthavalli memorial Laboratory. He also presented mementos to Xth & X11th schools toppers of Triplicane area and also distributed Financial Aid to college students.

Dental Camp: On this day SYMA in association with Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Sankara Medical Trust in commemoration of their 22nd anniversary arranged a dental camp at Bharathiar Illam. A full fledged team from Meenakshiammal dental college, Maduravoyal, Chennai conducted the camp with enthusiasm. Over 100 persons were screened and offered free consultation and medicines. Those patients who were referred to Meenakshiammal Dental Hospital for treatment, were provided transportation by SYMA.

SYMA proudly has been associated with Rajasthan cosmo club foundation for some years now. They have been helping us in our Educational Aid programme by donating uniforms through us to deserving school children. We have collected used cloths for them earlier and we did it again this month. SYMA volunteers went on street to street campaign collecting usable old cloths and one full lorry of cloths collected were handed over to Rajasthan Cosmo club. RCC also provided a bin which was kept at our office to enable public to donate cloth round the year.
